How do I know if my lawn needs grading before sod installation?
If your yard has standing water, uneven areas, poor drainage, or slopes toward your foundation, grading is highly recommended before installing sod. Proper grading ensures water flows away from your home and creates a smooth, level base for healthy root development.
What is included in your sod installation process?

How long does it take for new sod to root?

How often should I water new sod?
New sod should be watered daily for the first 1–2 weeks to keep the soil consistently moist (not flooded). After rooting begins, watering can gradually be reduced to encourage deeper root growth.
When is the best time of year to install sod?
Sod can be installed from spring through fall in Western New York. Cooler temperatures in spring and early fall are ideal because they reduce stress on the new grass and encourage strong root growth.
How soon can I walk on newly installed sod?
Light foot traffic is usually fine after about 2–3 weeks, once roots have started anchoring into the soil. We recommend avoiding heavy use until the lawn is fully established.
